This project will enable the park area to be fit for such purposes. All residents of the Avenues and Hollins Estate will benefit from the scheme including elderly members of the community and the young. It will benefit pupils at Limeside School as they will be able to use the field productively (currently there is no facilities at the school for outdoor sports education). The project will add value to a whole range of initiatives currently dependent on the improvement of the park. Once fully developed the park can be fully utilised and will engage certain groups and therefore will reduce vandalism and anti social behaviour. Through the dedication of local people, the tenants will have a real sense of community involvement and tangible ‘pride of place’ in their local landmark – Limeside park. Development works are scheduled to be completed by March 2007. Associated events designed to build community capacity and sports will be on-going. In support of sustained community involvement in the park, Contour have established a Friends of the Park Group. The Group will be organising a range of activities, such as clean up days, tree plantings and the painting of railings around the park. The images featured on this page were taken on the Limeside Park Tree Planting Day involving children from local primary schools.
