    Sustainable Neighbourhoods

 

This theme embraces a wide cross section of projects with the objective of building on existing community infrastructure, empowering local residents and bringing excluded groups and individuals back into the mainstream.

At present, the theme covers:

- housing

- capacity building

- community involvement

- community development

- community facilities strategy

- the development of a locally owned and run community

  economic development project.

Chapel Rd Synthetic Pitch Development

Development of a “state-of-the-art” FIFA 2 star 'soccer grass' system, coaching room and changing rooms.

Scheme available to local community and youth groups, supporting a varied mix of activities, ranging from summer activities for young people, residential weekends, and community facilities.

Evergreen Community Garden

The project takes over two areas of derelict land and provide the necessary facilities, infrastructure and services to turn them into a community garden.

Community Partnership Support Team

Project supports local people to become involved in SRB6. Provides help to community groups with advice on small grants scheme, other funding, constitutions etc for local community organisations.

Hollinwood Capacity Building

Providing capacity building training, advice and information for the residents of and those involved in community and voluntary organisations that are active, in Hollinwood.

Limeside Park

Development and improvement of park land in the Hollins and Avenues Estate to make it

fit for purposes such as sports, community and recreational activities.

Oldham Credit Union

Financial co-operative owned and controlled by its individual members. It provides them with accessible savings, low cost loans and other financial services such as insurance.

Football for Life

Project to develop a new 3G (Third Generation Pitch) and classrooms for an International Development Centre offering training in Key Skills, Citizenship, Sports Science, Administration, Business and Languages.

Medium Scale Grants Scheme

Both Medium and Small Grants schemes have been through an evaluation process and an appraisal will be going to the Board in July 2004. Subject to Board approval it is hoped that a new scheme will be operational from August. It is proposed that the two schemes are merged. A new simplified form is being developed by CPST.

Werneth and Freehold Asian Women’s Project
