A decisive win is predicted for local communities as a new 'State-of-the-art' Soccer Facility prepares for kick off in April '07. The Chapel Road pitch and changing rooms are now 10 years old. The current playing surface is becoming unsafe and is deteriorating badly. The internals of the building are dilapidated and two of the changing rooms are out of use because the floors are unsafe. With the help of SRB6 funding, the pitch is to be replaced with a “state-of-the-art” FIFA 2 star 'soccer grass' system, which will enable competitive 11-a-side football to be played. The existing changing rooms will be upgraded and a coach education room will be built in order to house local community group meetings/FA courses etc. Planned Programme of Activity Following completion of the works, an exciting programme of activity is planned, including: Chapel Road will facilitate the Oldham Girls Football League, which provides a structured and competitive activity for girls in the following age groups: U-10’s, U-12’s, U-14’s and U-16’s ages, for more information the link is below:http://full-time.thefa.com/gen/Index.do?league=7534156 Oldham Community Leisure (OCL) will work in partnership with N.A.C.R.O, Sports Development and the Oldham Primary Care Trust on various projects.
