The former Roxy cinema is scheduled for demolition in December 06. Demolition of the building is likely to take up to 8 weeks, after which the site will be landscaped. The landscaping scheme will involve grassing over the site and introducing some limited shrub planting. Plans for the are currently being drawn up. It is proposed that four advertisement hoardings will also be erected on the site as a temporary measure until it is redeveloped for offices. An application seeking consent for the advertisement hoardings, that would replace the adverts currently mounted to the Roxy building is being considered by the Council's Planning Department. A photographic and archaeological survey of the building has been commissioned as a record for posterity. Once completed, a copy of the survey will be stored at the local archives centre.
